NISE Corporate Film – Transcript
Duration: 7 minutes 20 seconds. This is a descriptive transcript: it contains all narration and speech, and describes important visuals in square brackets.
[Visual: An animated film in yellow and white. A cartoon sun shines over a landscape with trees, a house and a cow.]
[0:00] We dream, therefore we exist. Because dreaming gives us a sense of purpose, motivation and hope. Our dream is to create a solar future today.
[Visual: Animated city skyline with solar panels. Icons show the first solar thermal power project, solar distillation, solar water heating and solar photovoltaic designs.]
[0:19] The first dedicated solar energy research institute of India, evolved by designing solar energy systems historically. An apex national R&D institution, promoting widespread utilization of solar energy in the country and participating in international developments.
[Visual: A map of India filled with solar panel icons. Then the NISE logo appears in a yellow swirl.]
[0:41] We strive to make India a sustainable energy surplus nation. We are NISE, National Institute of Solar Energy, the backbone of solar energy development in India.
[Visual: A light bulb glows. Forested mountains rise above a lake.]
[1:01] Solar energy has great potential as the most benign future energy source for mankind. Vigorous efforts during the past two decades have brought solar energy within our reach in all walks of life.
[Visual: Aerial view of rows of solar panels on the NISE campus, the national emblem with the Indian flag, and the NISE entrance gate with its name in steel letters.]
[1:25] In this endeavour to enable India to play an important role in global energy security and offsetting carbon footprint, the Government of India has converted the 25-year-old Solar Energy Centre under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy into an autonomous institution, National Institute of Solar Energy, NISE, in 2013.
[1:52] NISE is located on Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, about 8 km from Central Gurgaon and about 25 km from Central Delhi. With a lush green 200-acre eco-friendly campus to facilitate large-size outdoor projects and scope for expansion in future, NISE is all set to develop next-generation solar energy technologies.
[Visual: A drone flies over a tree-lined road to the red-brick NISE building. A bright solar simulator lamp, and long rows of solar thermal collectors.]
[2:18] [Music]
[2:24] It is proposed to meet the entire electricity requirement by solar energy and make it a net-zero electricity consuming campus. In view of the technical responsibilities assigned by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, NISE is involved in demonstration, standardization, interactive research, training and testing of solar technologies and systems across five major verticals:
[Visual: Engineers work at test benches and computers. On-screen captions name each division as it is mentioned.]
[3:07] Solar Photovoltaic. Solar Thermal. Resource Assessment and Information Technology. Hydrogen. Training and HRD. NISE maintains an NABL-accredited solar photovoltaic module testing laboratory, a lighting system test laboratory, a battery testing facility, a water pumping test rig and outdoor test facilities.
[Visual: A technician tests a panel at a lab bench. A solar thermal plant with insulated pipes and pressure gauges.]
[3:42] NISE has inherited fully developed testing facilities for small and large-sized solar thermal systems and solar resource assessment.
[Visual: A map of India dotted with markers for the solar radiation stations.]
[3:55] The Resource Assessment and IT division has access to 119 automatic solar radiation stations across the country, set up under the National Solar Mission. Today, NISE is housing major R&D projects such as the 1 MW solar thermal power project implemented by IIT Bombay and industry, a central receiver concentrated solar power plant implemented by Sun Borne Energy Technologies, a solar hydrogen project implemented by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, and high-efficiency solar thermal air-conditioning systems with Thermax Limited.
[Visual: Each project is shown with its partner: IIT Bombay, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, and Thermax, under the caption 1 MW Solar Thermal Power Project.]
[4:37] NISE has a unique strength in bringing academia, research institutions and industry under one roof. It provides a platform to try new concepts and set up commercial-scale projects in actual field conditions.
[4:52] NISE has been a custodian of research within the country and has been closely interacting with foreign institutions through long-term collaborations in the solar energy sector.
[Visual: A world map shows logos of partner institutions, including Fraunhofer ISE, the University of Nottingham, Florida Solar Energy Center and Imperial College London. Then views of the NISE building and its lobby.]
[5:02] [Music]
[5:10] With the vision to be developed as a global centre of excellence, NISE has been an attraction for professionals, research scholars, engineers and scientists from India and abroad.
[5:24] It is now working towards setting up a national-level solar energy training network by involving various organisations through standard curriculum, training, workshops and seminars.
[Visual: Participants at a training workshop. A title card reads: RE-INVEST, first Renewable Energy Global Investment Promotion Meet and Expo, 15 to 17 February 2015, New Delhi. A speaker addresses a packed hall.]
[5:36] [Music]
[5:44] [Speaker at RE-INVEST 2015 speaks in Hindi] [Note for NISE: replace with the exact words spoken in Hindi]
[5:46] [Applause]
[5:57] [Speaker continues in Hindi] [Note for NISE: replace with the exact words spoken in Hindi]
[6:04] [Speaker] It will not be out of place to say that renewable energy
[6:08] is now a part of the mainstream plans of India's energy.
[Visual: A worker in a hard hat installs solar panels. Views of solar collectors, a dish concentrator and modern office interiors.]
[6:12] After the first Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet, the Institute is now gearing itself to support the ambitious target of the government by working on high-efficiency and reliable solar systems.
[6:30] It also proposes to start an innovation centre and an entrepreneurship development centre. Being a historic lead solar energy institution of the country, NISE is now ready to shoulder more responsibilities to take the nation on the path to establish itself as a world leader in renewable energy.
[Visual: Aerial view of the circular NISE building surrounded by green campus. The NISE logo appears, followed by the closing title.]
[6:52] [Music]
[7:07] NISE – Making the Sun Brighter. Joining the Nation in Renewable Energy movement.
