The basic function of NISE is to serve as a technical focal point in solar energy related areas. NISE has the following thrust areas for its contribution and exploration of knowledge in this area.

Academic Results Framework:

The academic Results Framework of the institute contains the agreed objectives, policies, programmes and projects, along with success indicators and targets to measure progress in implementing them. As such, it would provide a summary of the most important results that the institute expects to achieve during the financial year. The institute is in the process of developing the same.

Six Monthly Reports on the Performance:

The institute prepares quarterly, six monthly and yearly reports on the targets achieved through its programmes and activities for Presentation in Meetings of BOGs, Senate, Institute level bodies SBPC, SMPC and SDPC, and Departmental UG, PG, PhD bodies namely DBPC, DMPC, and DDPC, respectively.

Its results are seen in admission trends, wherein 100% seats at UG level get filled.
